The Landscape Committee

This group was established to assist management in implementing our long range Landscape Plan. They assist by recommending priorities and working with ACA management, McFall & Berry, and our Landscape Architect to develop affordable solutions to identified problem areas.  Additionally, the Committee is instrumental in the selection of spring and fall flowers for various common areas.

The personnel serving on these Committees are dedicated and serve key roles in the continuing development of our Community. The Committee volunteers have provided the continuity and institutional memory needed to insure fairness and equality in addressing homeowner’s initiatives.

The Standards Committee

This group reviews instances where a homeowner is in violation of some aspect of the covenants or the guidelines.  The Committee provides homeowners with an opportunity to attend a hearing and attempt to adjudicate outstanding violations and, if appropriate, the Committee can levy fines that will accrue until the problem is resolved.  The Committee meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month (as needed).

The Modifications Committee

This group reviews plans and specs for changes homeowners wish to make to their homes and lots. They are guided in their efforts by the architectural guidelines.  Modification applications are due on the 1st Monday of every month and the Committee meets to review applications on the 2nd Monday of every month.

The Homeowners Advisory Committee

This group is comprised of one representative from each of the thirteen Villages. This group is charged with advising the Board on issues and with conveying to the Board the feelings and concerns of the homeowners in their respective Village.  The HAC meets quarterly.

The New Construction Committee

This group reviews site plans, building plans and landscape plans to insure the proposed structures and other improvements meet all requirements, will blend in with the character and theme of other homes in that village, and are built in accordance with our governing documents.

Community Volunteers/Committees

The Avenel Community Association committees are the backbone and fabric of our Association.  They are made up of resident volunteers who are appointed and approved by the Board of Directors to serve on each of the various committees.  The Association is always looking for fresh ideas and perspectives on the issues facing our Community.  Joining a committee is a great way to give back to Avenel, while volunteering your expertise and insight.

Currently we have four standing committees and one ad-hoc committee.  They are: New Construction Committee; Homeowners Advisory Committee (HAC); Modifications Committee and the Standards Committee.  All ACA Committee volunteers serve three (3) year terms.

If you are interested in volunteering your time and input to one of the above Committees, or simply would like more information about the Committees role in the Community, please contact the ACA offices at 301-299-5916, or email customerservice@avenel.net .  Current openings for ACA Committees are posted in the Avenel e-newsletters, which can be viewed on the Latest News page.  If you wish to be included in our mailing list, please contact the ACA offices at your convenience with your email information.
